When setting the depth of cut on my plunge saw there are two indication points - one is blank and one says FS - which one should I be using?

You should use the FS indicator (pictured right) when using the FS Guide Rails, otherwise use the blank indicator is set when not using a rail.  

The difference between the two indicators is the thickness of the guide rail.
