In order to be able to offer customers at least the same level of service as they would expect in Europe or the US, Festool in Australia has to employ more staff and deal with higher overhead cost in relation to income generated than in any other market in the world. This can lead, depending on actual exchange rates, to higher purchasing costs in Australia compared to other international markets.

The alternative would be to reduce local stock holding, reduce the number of services offered and only offer a much smaller core range of products to the Australian consumer.
