Why does the ETS/RO vibrate badly when not fitted with a pad?
This vibration is not an indication of a fault of the ETS/RO sander.
The mass of the pad forms part of the machine's rotating mass, and is counter-balanced by internal weights.
With the pad not fitted, the machine is imbalanced as the counter-weights do not have any opposing mass to balance.
