Why does my ETSC/RTSC/DTSC sander produce less power on the mains adaptor than when using a battery?

The sander may cut out at a lesser load when powered by the main adaptor because the mains adaptor is designed to deliver 150W continuously and will cut out if tool is overloaded beyond approximately 200W.

Batteries are capable of delivering short bursts of much higher power so the tool will tolerate more extreme overloading and continue to run.
