What's the difference between a suction hose and anti static suction hose?

A suction hose is ridged and designed for general clean up duties. Static can build up during use with a power tool causing dust to build up along the hose as well as give the user static shocks.
A smooth anti-static hose will not catch on edges as easily and it conducts static electricity to the ground.
Festool antistatic hoses have no visible electric leads; the high-carbon plastic they are made from conducts high voltage. The tool is grounded by way of the hose, through dust extractor, to the ground via the unit's power source.
