Nothing Goes Like An Antistatic Hose

You might not pay hoses much attention. After all, you've probably got a tonne of gear and plenty of other tools you're thinking about. You might even think, "A hose is just a hose, right?". Well... no, there's a bit more to them these days, and for good reason.

Antistatic hoses, for example. They are THE business.

But do you know why antistatic hoses are as good as we're making out?

Three main reasons;

1 - They prevent clogging and dust-cling

2 - They last way longer

3 - They avoid any nasty electric shocks

So, you work faster and better with fewer dusty interruptions, fewer shop visits, and you're not electrocuted. All good things, particularly the last one.

Perhaps you're shocked that hoses can cause electrocution? Well, it's a legitimate risk because the dust build up and static generated by some materials within the hose can act as a conductor and draw mains power through to the end user. There have been cases of whole sites losing power because a bloke operating a dust extractor was using a normal non antistatic hose.

Antistatic hoses = the business.

However, it's a bit tricky out there in the market as antistatic hoses aren't always included with dust extractors by default, or sometimes not even labelled as such.

Not the case with Festool though. The majority of the hoses we use are antistatic and where they're not, they're clearly labelled. No confusion, you want to be 100% in-the-know. Plus, our antistatic hoses are designed to work seamlessly with any product in the range. We don't want you worrying about your gear, your health or having to muck around with non-interchangeable parts.

Antistatic hoses = the business.

So, here are the main things to remember about antistatic hoses:

  • Prevents clogging

  • Eliminates static cling so you don't leave a trail of dust

  • Extremely durable for long life

  • Avoids electrical shocks

  • Designed for full system compatibility

In terms of the range, we've got the older antistatic hoses you've seen in this article, plus we've also got the newer smooth antistatic hoses which do the same job but are less likely to get caught on things like guide rails. Most hoses are tapered and there's a wide range of variants so it's best to have a look around our website and work out the right hose for your application.
