Cabinet Maker

    For cabinet makers

Cut it once, cut it right.

The jobs that cost you are the ones needing a second pass — taping a cut line, planing an edge to fit, scribing a panel that chipped, rolling edge tape on by hand in a finished kitchen.

    $93

saved per day over ten laminate panel cuts at $80/hr. About seventy minutes back, and most of it is what the approach removes rather than what it speeds up: no scribing, no planing the edge, no trip back to the workshop to cut.

Across ten panels at $80/hr70 mins · $93

Scenario: 10 panels at $80/hr. A scoring saw severs the surface layer before the main blade goes through, so both faces come off clean.

Jointing is where the accuracy compounds. A biscuit locates a panel but lets it slide along the joint. A dowel locates in both directions but wants accurate drilling on two faces. A DOMINO cuts a mortise for a loose tenon — located both ways, with real glue area and mechanical strength. On carcase and frame work that shows up at assembly: parts pull together square without a dry run, and a mortise cut wide gives you the adjustment when a run of cabinets meets a wall that is not straight.

    $216

    Shark-nose edges

Over 20 edges at $65/hr. Two minutes an edge on a KA 65 against twelve spraying contact, waiting, rolling and cleaning the excess off a face that will show under finish.

    $54

    Tapered infills

Per day over 10 infills at $65/hr. Cut the taper on the rail rather than ripping parallel and planing a narrow strip down to a line by eye.

    $194

    Internal radius banding

Over 20 shelves. Three minutes a corner against twelve by hand, with nothing to clean off afterwards because the glue goes on in the same pass.
