Are Festool batteries purchased from overseas suitable for Austrlian purchased tools?

Festool tools and chargers purchased overseas are produced to operate at differnt voltages as per individual countries specifications and are not covered by Australian warranty conditions. A battery charger when connected to a battery measures current, temperature and monitors and adjusts the battery charging rate accordingly. Internal components differ from country to country including differnt part numbers and their control modules which may cause functional issues. Because of these differences Festool Australia cannot guarantee that the tools and chargers made for overseas markets will  be suitable for Australia.

Can I run my Festool corded tools on a generator?

Festool does not recommend running Festool corded tools on generators as we have seen many cases where poor power quality has caused damage to the tools requiring repair. The problem is harmonic content (ie. unwanted noise in the waveform) in the power output of conventional generator types, inverter types work very differently and may be OK. Festool cannot make any recommendations of suitable generator models as we have not done any testing. If you want to proceed and use your Festool corded tools with a generator before you do, you should seek assurance from the manufacturer that the output waveform is as clean and pure a sinewave as the AC mains. Your Festool warranty may be void if there is a problem requiring a repair caused by using your Festool corded tools with a generator.

Generator usage with Festool / Fein productsDealers and end-users often ask us if portable generators can power Festool/Fein products, the answer to this is not a simple yes or no.

Some tools will fail to start on one particular generator but will run reliably on another, some generators produce damaging power which can destroy the tools electronics. Because there are so many variables with the different types of generators it is impossible for us to give a blanket statement that Festool products are safe for use with them, to make such a statement we would need to first test all Festool products on all the different generators available, this is not practical due to the many available generators and their continuing changing specifications. End-users intending to use generators to power Festool products do so at their own risk - we cannot encourage or support the use of generators.
