HLC 82 cordless planer
Following on from the sucess of the EHL 65mm, the new cordless planer not only offers the freedom associated with cord free planing, it also incorporates user feedback and features a 82mm wide base plate. This is especially beneficial for wider pieces of wood (like a standard door edge or wider dimensional timber), as it requires fewer passes to cover the entire surface. Fewer passes mean less time spent on the job.
Cordless Power, Precision Finish
The HLC 82 is compatible with all existing Festool 18V battery packs* and features a quick brake that stops the tool in less than two seconds. This rapid stop minimizes the risk of injury and prevents accidental damage to the workpiece.
Maximum Performance and Precise Woodworking
Equipped with a brushless EC-TEC motor, the HLC 82 maintains consistently high pulling power—even when operating at maximum cutting depth. The motor is highly efficient and energy-saving, significantly extending both runtime and the device's service life. With an 82 millimetre planing width and a maximum 25 millimetre rebate depth, the HLC 82 is highly versatile, making it ideal for a wide range of interior and exterior finishing applications.

Fine Planing Pattern, Reduced Sanding Time
A key feature is the spiral blade with a pulling cut. The blade starts at an angle, gently peeling the wood without tearing the material. The result is a consistent, fine surface finish without visible planing marks, which significantly reduces the sanding effort required afterward. This design also contributes to reduced noise during operation.
Versatile, Ergonomic, and Thoughtful Design
The cutting depth is easily adjusted from 0 to 2.5 millimetres for precise tuning during work. The ergonomically shaped handle with its soft grip surface ensures comfortable handling, whether used horizontally or vertically. Its low weight allows for effortless guidance. Furthermore, three integrated 90° V-grooves in the soleplate make it simpler to chamfer workpieces like boards and beams for clean, controlled work.
Innovative Fiber Sole for Fast Results
An intelligent accessory is the new chamfering soleplate. It enables the fast and precise chamfering of long beams or squared timber. The wide, stable contact surface provides a secure hold and even gliding, allowing you to achieve straight chamfers in seconds. This greatly improves time efficiency on site. Even when using the rebate depth stop, a maximum rebate depth of 23 millimetres is maintained. The side-mounted rip fence ensures precise guidance when working on edges and prevents lateral drifting.
Healthy Working with a Well-Designed Extraction System
For clean and healthy working conditions, the HLC 82 is fitted with two extraction channels. The longer channel is suited for use with a vacuum cleaner, while the shorter one is designed for applications with high chip removal—ideal for situations without immediate extraction facilities. The angled spiral blade also contributes to overall noise reduction.
Tested by the Trade, Built for the Trade
"As with all our products, we had the HLC 82 intensively tested by tradespeople before its market launch," explains Pordi Kailer, Product Manager at Festool. "The feedback was uniformly positive: The new cordless planer impresses with its performance, versatility, and ergonomics. It truly elevates mobile planing to a new level."
